Do they actually own land on Mars?
No. Red Planet Registry is a novelty gift. Under the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, no nation can claim sovereignty over celestial bodies, and no one can legally sell extraterrestrial land. Your gift is a personalized, commemorative and fictional registration. It's a keepsake, not a deed, and it conveys no legal ownership or property rights.
Is the location real?
Yes. Every plot is tied to a real coordinate on Mars (planetocentric latitude, east longitude) and drawn on the NASA/JPL/USGS Viking MDIM 2.1 colorized global mosaic. The marker on every map matches the coordinates printed on the certificate.
Can two people get the same plot?
No. Plots are assigned from a deterministic lattice that covers the whole planet. Each registry number maps to a distinct coordinate, and plot designations are unique.
Can I choose the location?
Plots are assigned automatically when you reserve, so every location is unique. You'll see the exact plot, coordinates and map before you pay.
Is anything shipped?
No. Everything is digital: high-resolution PDFs (plus phone and desktop wallpapers with the Ultimate Mission). Nothing is printed or mailed. You're welcome to print the files at home or at a print shop.
How quickly will I receive it?
Usually within a minute or two of payment confirmation. Files appear on your order page and are emailed to you.
Will names with accents print correctly?
Yes, for Western, Central and Northern European Latin alphabets, including characters such as é, ñ, ü, ø, ł, ő and š. Our typefaces don't yet cover Vietnamese, Greek, Cyrillic or non-Latin scripts. If a character isn't supported, the form tells you before you pay, so nothing prints incorrectly.
Can I fix a typo after purchase?
Contact support with your order number within 14 days and we'll regenerate the documents with the correction at no charge.
What's your refund policy?
Because files are delivered instantly, purchases are generally final once downloaded. If something went wrong with your files, we'll fix it or refund you. See the Refund Policy for details.
Are you affiliated with NASA?
No. We use public-domain imagery from NASA, JPL and USGS, credited on every document. Red Planet Registry is an independent company, not affiliated with or endorsed by any space agency or government.
